UPDATE, February 2021:

The Reno Sportsdome, now the Swift Sportsdome, is resuming construction after being stalled by COVID-19.

It was going to open in summer 2020, but now Swift is its new partner and is a physical therapy and sports science training space.

Officials say it's the first of its kind in Northern Nevada.

We will continue to update this story as we here more.

Original Story, October 2019:

Construction is set to begin this month on the new Sportsdome XL in south Reno on South Meadows Parkway.

The 120,000-square-foot indoor facility will house sports for both children and adults, such as volleyball, lacrosse, flag football, basketball and soccer. In addition there will also be space for events like tradeshows and parties.

"I think there's just a need for it," Owen Blake, Owner of Reno Sportsdome said. "I think there's a lot of youth and adults who really are looking for an outlet to play sports."

The project, scheduled to be completed in summer 2020 will be the largest indoor multi-sport facility in northern Nevada.

Sportsdome XL will be the second facility under the Reno Sportsdome brand, and it will offer a snack bar and other amenities for people who attend games and camps.

"The parents will be able to hang out and be able to do things like get on the Wi-Fi or maybe exercise while the kids are actually playing their sports," Blake said.

The original Reno Sportsdome remains open and will continue to operate with normal hours after the Sportsdome XL’s grand opening in 2020. In the next couple of months, registration will open for the Sportsdome XL’s leagues and programs.

To secure a spot at the new location, the community is encouraged to visit www.renosportsdome.com and sign up to receive updates on registration for the new facility.
