Truckee Police Reopen SR 89 Roundabout With Restrictions After Pursuit

Truckee Police and California Highway Patrol say a stolen truck pursuit ended near the SR 89 roundabout in Truckee on Monday.

Police have since reopened the roundabout.

Truckee PD worked alongside Truckee CHP, Truckee Fire, Grass Valley PD, Grass Valley CHP, and Nevada County Sheriff’s Office to contain the scene.

CHP tells us the incident started in Nevada City with the sheriff's office initiating the pursuit of the stolen Ford F-450 truck after 10:30 a.m.

Then about an hour later, CHP troopers took over the pursuit, throwing out spike strips near Grass Valley.

Deputies then notified Truckee Police who then took over the pursuit near Kingvale where a second set up of spikes were deployed taking out two tires. CHP says yet another set of strip spikes were placed out, this time on I-80 east near Donner where the remaining three tires were deflated.

And that's when the truck stopped at the I-80 & SR 89 Junction where a K9 was deployed and the suspect captured.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and then booked into Nevada County Jail.

No one else was hurt.Â
