Two People in Custody in Reno in Connection With Residential Burglary Case

Washoe County Deputies arrested two men suspected of an attempted burglary Thursday morning after a brief chase.

Deputies say they responded to a burglary around 10 a.m. on Latigo Drive, and RAVEN, which happened to be in the area picked up the suspects.

Deputies chased them toward the area Booth Street and Idlewild Drive, but discontinued their pursuit when the suspects began driving recklessly and almost hit a deputy's vehicle. "RAVEN took over the remainder of the pursuit and followed the subjects to this area, Booth and Idlewild, where we set up a perimeter, and located the two individuals in the building behind me," says Deputy Jeff McCaskill.

Deputies eventually located the suspects hiding inside one of the apartment units and both subjects were taken into custody without incident.

The suspects in this case have been identified as 49-year-old Curt Torvick of Sparks and 32-year-old Frank Willis of Silver Springs.

Both men have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, eluding a police officer, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men are being held on $45,500 bail at the Washoe County Detention Facility.  Additional charges are pending.

Reno High School and Turning Point were briefly put on a precautionary lockdown during the incident.
