The University of Nevada, Reno is getting ready to recognize more than 8,000 degrees awarded in 2020 and 2021.
For the first time, that recognition will happen in-person at Mackay Stadium. Recent grads will be able to celebrate each other in-person with family just like in the old days before COVID-19.
To make that happen and allow for social distancing, Nevada selected its largest outdoor venue.
"Obviously we want to accommodate as many people as we possibly could and so that was the basis for holding this in Mackay Stadium, but it really has turned out fabulous," University of Nevada, Reno President Brian Sandoval said.
This year there will be eight ceremonies. Some of those are dedicated to grads who weren't recognized in-person last year.
"Thrilled that we're going to have two ceremonies tomorrow for our 2020 graduates and let them have that moment that they've earned and they deserve it," says Sandoval.
Ceremonies will happen Wednesday through Saturday, twice a day.
Seating will be assigned and available at the north and south end zones of the stadium and on stands as well. Guests will enter through gate one and five.
Masks will be required the whole time and people are also asked to follow those COVID-19 guidelines we have all become so accustomed to.
