Lithium Americas is getting ready to break ground on a large lithium mine at Thacker Pass in Humboldt County. And now it has a new lithium technical development center in Reno.

Nevada is the largest lithium source in North America, and the goal is to build batteries for electric vehicles.
Officials says the loan would help finance the construction of a lithium carbonate processing plant at a mine 200 miles north of Reno.
