A local iconic piece of art moved to its final home on Wednesday morning.
Clayton Scudder, owner of Scudders Performance on Victorian Avenue got the VW spider bug six years ago when it was destined for a landfill.
"Everybody could see it off Wells Avenue," said Scudder. "Everybody that's ever saw it remembers it off the fire house. Now comes the new step for this bug. Everybody's going to see it in Downtown Sparks."
Thousands of people will be able to see it as they drive along Interstate 80.
The spider sculpture was created in the 1970's by artist David Farmbrough. It was placed atop the old fire station at Fifth Street and Morrill Avenue in 1991, then removed in 2008.
"Anybody that's lived here anytime at all knows what the bug is and remembers it when it was in Reno,” said Sparks Mayor, Geno Martini. “When you went over Wells Ave. overpass you had a good view of it."
