The Washoe CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Foundation hosted its annual the Biggest Little Easter Egg Hunt and Resource Fair on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The free event was held at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows at 2680 E. 9th Street in Reno.
There was also a Resource Fair with a sensory-friendly hour.
Starting at 10 a.m., there was an adapted egg hunt for those with disabilities and/or sensory sensitivities of all ages.
The rest of the egg hunts were organized based on the age of children participating:
- 10:45 a.m. – Ages 0-2
- 11:05 a.m. – Ages 3-4
- 11:25 a.m. – Ages 5-6
- 11:40 a.m. – Ages 7-9
- 11:55 a.m. – Ages 10-12
In addition to the egg hunts, the event featured games, face painting, and pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny.
Caregivers were able to take advantage of free dental screenings and vaccinations for children.
The Washoe CASA Foundation also had a booth where people can learn more about being a CASA volunteer. CASA volunteers work with foster children in Washoe County to make sure their right and needs are met while going through the legal process.
70 local welfare organizations showed up, as well.
“This free event brings together community partners and volunteers who all have a common goal: to help local kids have fun while providing valuable resources and information to caregivers,” said Tiffanie Story, Washoe CASA Foundation Board Trustee.
“This event also helps raise awareness for the upcoming National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. It’s time to remember that we each play a part in promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and families in our community.”
