The Washoe County School District is seeking a replacement for Trustee Nick Smith who resigned in early April. Smith resigned after alleged misconduct with a high school student.
The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees is inviting interested members of the community to apply for the vacant seat in District C. To apply, individuals must submit a letter of intent, resume or curriculum vitae, and a response to the following questions:
- Why are you interested in serving on the WCSD Board of Trustees?
- What experience, interests, training or other skills do you feel you would bring to the WCSD Board of Trustees?
- What do you feel are the major challenges facing public education in Washoe County?
- What do you believe are WCSD's strengths and weaknesses in relation to providing a quality education to our students, and how do you believe WCSD could be improved?
- What do you believe are the Board’s strengths and weaknesses, and how do you believe the Board could be improved?
- What is the role of a WCSD Trustee?
To be considered to fill the vacancy, individuals must be a qualified elector/eligible to vote and must meet the qualifications of residence within Washoe County, School Trustee District C, which is located in the north east area of Washoe County.
The Board of Trustees say they intend to review the applications, interview applicants, and make a selection to fill the vacancy at a Board meeting on May 10, 2016.
