Sky Ranch Middle School Principal's Statement On Rumors Of Possible Incident

UPDATE, August 25:

The Washoe County School District says it's received word of one confirmed case of COVID-19 at Vaughn Middle School and one confirmed case at Lemelson STEM Academy.

Officials said they are working with the Health District to conduct contact tracing, which may result in some exclusions.

They said schools are following enhanced cleaning protocols.

Out of privacy concerns, no other information is being shared regarding the individuals who tested positive.

Original Story, August 15: The Washoe County School District (WCSD) received word on Thursday night that there's a positive COVID-19 case at Vaughn Middle School. WCSD says the school will be cleaned and staff will resume work in the building on Monday.

On Friday, August 7 WCSD announced a staff member at Hunter Lake Elementary School tested positive.

In the third week of August there's been suspected positive cases of COVID-19 at Hug High School, Wooster High School, Rollan Melton Elementary School and Grace Warner Elementary School.

Officials said out of an abundance of caution, schools are being cleaned according to CDC protocol.

They said the School District will be taking proactive measures and excluding some employees and students from the building before an official confirmation of the positive cases is provided.

You can read the whole statement below:

Out of an abundance of caution and due to possible exposure, the schools are being thoroughly cleaned per Washoe County Health District and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) protocol.

WCSD and staff at both schools are following appropriate procedures as required by the Washoe County Health District and have been working in partnership with the Washoe County Health District throughout this process.

As a reminder to our staff and families, in response to suspected COVID-19 cases, the Washoe County School District will be taking proactive measures and excluding some employees and students from the building before an official confirmation of a positive case is provided.
