UPDATE, March 2019: The Washoe County School District announced on Friday they have chosen a new principal for Galena High School.
They said they chose Jay Salter, who currently serves as principal at Inspire and was the former assistant principal at Spanish Springs High School.

UPDATE, February 2019:Â The Washoe County School District released a statement on Tuesday accepting the resignation of Tom Brown, former Galena High School principal.
They said the district will be arranging family meetings to explain the principal hiring process and to gather family and community input.
They said Galena High School will ensure the continuation of teaching under the leadership of Interim Principal Rick Harris.
The Washoe County School District (WCSD) says two Galena High School faculty members are now on leave.
Galena High Principal Tom Brown and Assistant Principal Erika Sanchez are on leave for unspecified reasons.
WCSD sent us this statement that was released to parents this week:
Hello Galena Parents and Guardians,Â
This is Joe Ernst, Area Superintendent of Galena HS.  I would like to inform you that Mr. Brown will be out for a period of time. In the meantime, Mr. Rick Harris will be serving as the interim principal of Galena HS.  Washoe County School District will continue to provide support to our students and staff to ensure the continuation of teaching and learning during Mr. Brown’s absence.  Â
