A Wind Advisory is up for much of Northern Nevada, including the Truckee Meadows through 4am Saturday because of strong winds, gusting up to 55mph. Wind prone areas will see wind gusts up to 65mph. It will be windy all day leading to aviation and driving impacts. Make sure to keep both hands on the steering wheel.

An atmospheric river is bringing rain to northwest California Friday morning, moving into the Tahoe Basin by the early afternoon. The snow level will stay high, starting out near 7600’ but rising to 8000’ for much of the day. Donner will see rain on Friday, while snow is possible along Mt. Rose Highway.

There will be a break in the weather Friday night into Saturday morning, with heavy rain building back in Saturday afternoon, and turning heavy come Sunday. Torrential rain will fall in the Sierra on Sunday, leading to minor flooding along our creeks and streams, especially in the Tahoe Basin. Winds will be strong in the valley on Sunday as well.

Colder air moves in late Tuesday into Wednesday, with travel impacts likely on Wednesday because of snow along our mountain passes. Stay tuned for updates.
