The Food Bank of Northern Nevada needs volunteers throughout the year to help sort and pack the food that is distributed through the 140 partner agencies all over northern Nevada. The spring and summer time are traditionally tough times for the organization to recruit enough volunteers to do the work.
Wild Island Family Adventure Park is helping Food Bank of Northern Nevada volunteers balance their summer fun and volunteering with a unique partnership. Because of a generous donation from Wild Island, the Food Bank will be holding a drawing every week for two free Waterpark tickets and two free Attraction tickets throughout the summer. Each time a volunteer comes out to help for a session, they receive a free entry into the drawing.
The need for emergency food remains high in northern Nevada with an average of 95,000 people served each month. Nearly half of those served by the Food Bank are children and seniors. With food donations, including the Stamp Out Hunger Letter Carriers Food Drive on May 13, there is a tremendous amount of work that volunteers are needed for. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is looking to fill 25 sessions each month during the summer.
“We are thrilled that Wild Island Family Adventure Park is partnering with us in this exciting way,” said Cherie Jamason, president & CEO of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. “Now volunteers can help us with this important work and have a chance to win Wild Island tickets at the same time!”
