The voice of the Nevada Wolf Pack for the past nine season is moving on. Ryan Radtke has accepted a national broadcasting job at Westwood One where Radtke will call college football, college basketball and other major events for the radio network.Â
"I want to thank the University of Nevada and Learfield for the opportunity to broadcast Wolf Pack games," Radtke said in a press release Monday, "The past nine years have been the highlight of my professional career and I am so thankful for the time that I have been able to spend behind the mic for Nevada football and basketball. I've had the opportunity to describe great moments and work with tremendous broadcast partners, coaches and players, I'd also like to thank the Wolf Pack fans who have been so supportive of our broadcasts. Nine years ago I was welcomed here with open arms and words cannot express how much that meant to Adrienne and me. This community will always hold a special place in my heart and I look forward to following the future success of Wolf Pack athletics."
According to the athletic department Radtke joined the Wolf Pack at the start of the 2008 football season and called nearly 500 games in nine years at Nevada. He was the lead voice on Wolf Pack football and men's basketball, hosted numerous coaches shows on air, and was the emcee for multiple special events. Radtke came to Reno in 2008 and has also served as the voice of the Reno Aces.Â
"Ryan's work ethic, professionalism and talent quickly earned the respect of the coaches, student-athletes and staff from the moment he stepped on campus. His passion for his craft formed a bond between the University and its fans," said Nevada Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Communications Chad Hartley in the press release, "To be clear, he is one of the best in the business, and the Wolf Pack is fortunate to have had him tell its story."
"Wolf Pack fans have been fortunate to listen to Ryan's memorable calls the past nine seasons," said Andy McDowell, general manager for Learfild's local Wolf Pack Sports Properties team in the press release, "A national audience will soon learn what we already know - he is one of the most talented broadcasters in the country. We are grateful to be a part of his career journey and look forward to listening to his national calls for years to come."
The Wolf Pack and Learfield, which holds the rights to multimedia for Nevada will be searching for a lead broadcaster nationwide. The pack broadcasts football and men's and women's basketball games on air in Northern Nevada and at NevadaWolfPack.com.
