The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) hosted "Zero Energy Homes" Workshop at the University of Nevada, Reno Innevation Center-Power By Switch 450 Sinclair St,. Reno at 7:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018.

Experts were there to help explain the benefits of building homes that produce as much energy as they use each year.

The workshop reviewed how to build the DOE's, Zero Energy, Ready Home, that when combined with solar photo-voltaic (PV) technology, it can be "Zero Net Energy."

The market for "Zero Net Energy" is trending and there has been a 52% increase between 2017 to 2018.

This new building trend could lead to a surge in net zero energy residential development, which in return benefits the air quality and economy in Northern Nevada.
