The Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial in Carson City has every name of every officer killed on duty since 1861. However, over the last 20 years, only three officers were killed by gunfire in Northern Nevada. Saturday's death of Deputy Carl Howell was the fourth.Â
In conjunction with National Police Week, the 17th Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 on the Capitol grounds in Carson City.
Law enforcement agencies across Northern Nevada are participating in the 25th annual Memorial Relay Run to honor fallen officers.Â
