On Sunday, people with disabilities, along with family and friends can check out outdoor fun at the city of sparks adventure day.
The free event will include hand-cycling, kayaking, sailing and an adaptive rock climbing wall.
The event is set up with specialized equipment designed to accommodate a variety of disabilities.
Mark Wellman, a two time Para-Olympian and lifelong climber, will also be on hand for the 11th annual event.
He along with volunteers from the city of Reno and Sierra Nevada Community Sailing will be guiding participants through all the featured activities.Â
“It's exciting for them. You know you live your life out of this wheeled device that's with you wherever you go, next to your bed, you know wherever you go the wheel chair is with you and that's kind why I like climbing so much, I leave the wheelchair below," says Wellman.
Organizers say all ages and abilities are encouraged to come out and try the activities. Close toed shoes are required for the event.
