The Nevada Department of Corrections says an apparent homicide of an inmate occurred Saturday morning at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC) located just outside Carson City.
Officials are on site and conducting an investigation.
Responding staff attempted lifesaving processes, but were unable to revive the inmate.
The NNCC facility is currently on lock-down status and will remain so until normal operations are reinstated.
An investigation is underway.
