Nonprofit Amplify Life is looking for campers for their pre-vocational camp for special needs youth. The program is for students with intellectual, developmental and learning disabilities.

"It's for ages 14-22," said Jessica Daum, Executive Director of Amplify Life. "It's a pre-vocational camp, so in the mornings we're in the classroom and learning about effective communication, body language, how to fill out applications, what should be on your resume, how to answer interview questions. And then in the afternoons we go into the community and show our clients what jobs are out there they might be interested in."

The programs are designed to fit individual needs.

"We tailor-make all the programs to help them," said Amplify Life Program Coordinator Luis Chavez. "That helps them learn in their own way. We take them by hand so they can be ready for the workforce. "People with disabilities are often the most overlooked and under-served in our community, and if I can bring that to our community and help them a little bit it makes it all worth it,"

Through the years, Amplify Life has partnered with community groups and businesses to help get their participants out into the workforce.

"Custom Ink was first introduced to Amplify Life three years ago when they visited our production facility here in Reno as part of their Life Works Program," said Heather Hamilton with Custom Ink. "Since then, we've continued to be a partner in that program. We really love when the campers come in and we're able to get to know them and able to teach them a little about what we do and what it's like to work at Custom Ink. They're just a great group of people. What Amplify Life does is incredible for our community and we're excited to continue this partnership."

The camp is free and sessions run March 16-20 and March 23-27.
