An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at an apartment building at 9th and Virginia Streets in north Reno.
Firefighters responded to the building in the 3400 block of 9th Street west of Virginia around 11:15 a.m.
When firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke and flames coming from one apartment on the second floor.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and then worked to track down the fire in the attic and the walls.
One person was hospitalized with minor injuries after jumping from a second floor window.
“Swift action by the arriving fire crews helped stop the fire from spreading into more apartments,” says Reno Battalion Chief Seth Williams.
Currently, West 9th Street between Sierra and Virginia Streets is closed to traffic, according to Reno Fire Department officials.
The American Red Cross is assisting those affected by the fire.
