Reno Firefighters knocked down a brush fire Gardella Avenue and Ferrari-McLeod Boulevard Monday afternoon.
Crews responded around 4 p.m. and had the fire fully contained by 5 p.m.
The fire spread quickly through sagebrush and cheat grass on a steep slope driven by winds gusting to 30 miles per hour.
Three apartment buildings and the homes at the end of Savara Court were directly threatened as the fire burned right up to the structures, but they were not damaged.
The fire burned about 5 acres.
The cause is under investigation.
There were no injuries to occupants. One Firefighter was treated and released for possible heat and dehydration related symptoms.
