The Washoe County School District says a code red lockdown is now lifted at Galena High School after suspicious activity was reported on a school bus earlier in the day.Â
WCSD says "the school is in normal operations and all students and staff are safe. All classes will continue for today."
Washoe County Deputies responded in force after hearing a report that a student brought a gun on a school bus.Â
"We were running into school and then we saw people coming out, so we just like ran," one student said.Â
The lockdown was put in place after 7:30 a.m. but it was then lifted just after 8:45 a.m.
The Sheriff's Office says it's unclear how the report started but said people should be suspicious of what they see on social media.Â
You can report suspicious activity by calling Secret Witness at 775-322-4900. Your tip will remain anonymous.Â
