The federal government shutdown will cause slight permanent harm to the economy - about $3 billion - according to a report today by the Congressional Budget Office.
The House has voted to ensure that all federal employees will be paid retroactively after the partial government shutdown ends. Â
Friday will mark the first time many federal employees will not see a paycheck due to the partial government shutdown. However, many businesses, like utility companies and even banks, are cutting these workers a bit of a break.Â
