Deputies: Minden Businesses Evacuated After Acid Spill; Nowlin Road Closed

Several businesses in Minden near Angela Court remain evacuated as hazmat crews clean up an acid spill found late Wednesday morning inside an abandoned warehouse. Nowlin Road remains closed until further notice. 

Douglas County Deputies say the Douglas County East Fork Fire District responded to the hazardous material spill just after 10 a.m. Wednesday at 1180 Angela Court. 

East Fork Fire requested assistance from the Quad County Hazmat Team which comprises of Carson City Fire, Storey County Fire, Lyon County Fire and Douglas County. 

Deputies say on scene crews are taking precautionary measures to ensure no leaks emerge from containers inside the building. Crews anticipate being on scene for several hours. They say the "incident has been determined to not be of environmental concern."

Clean up of the site is being coordinated with the response of the Quad County Hazmat Team.  

Deputies say there are no injuries or exposures to personnel at this time. The property will be turned over to the property manager Wednesday night.
