Dog Closure for Upper Truckee Marsh Starting Today

The California Tahoe Conservancy says dogs will not be allowed at the Upper Truckee Marsh from May 1 until July 31.

They said the purpose of the closure is to keep dogs out of special, threatened and endangered species' breeding habitats, like the Willow Flycatcher.

California Tahoe Conservancy says dogs will be allowed at the marsh as long as they are on a leash starting on August 1.

The Cove East property west of the river will still be open for dogs on a leash year-round.
