The Sparks Marina Dog Park will close during a special event and other areas will have restricted use.Â
Starting Friday, June 16 and running through Sunday, June 18, the dog park at the Sparks Marina will be closed during the US Open of Watercross Event.
The City of Sparks says they are closing the dog park as a safety measure during the event. They say the watercraft can speed in excess of 80 miles per hour which is why some areas of the park need to close.
The dog park on the south side of the Sparks Marina will be closed to the public on Friday, June 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, June 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The city also says that the use of paddling or sailing crafts will be restricted to the north side of the lake, close to the swim beach, during the racing portion of the event.
The US Open of Watercross Event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.Â
