After graduating Reno's McQueen High School, our Someone 2 Know went on to become a wildland firefighter.

He now has his own business selling sports nutrition supplements, specially designed to support the needs of firefighters.

Just 18, and just graduated from high school, this is what a day at work looked like for Anders Boyd - "just fire on both sides of the road and in between houses and trees are on fire. You know, there was a moment there, where I was like, what did I get myself into?”

What started as a summer job, became a devotion.

"I fell in love with it ever since and it was just, uh, there's no bigger adrenaline rush.”

Boyd got his first taste when he was just six years old and got to sit in a fire truck

"It's fun going to work every day.”

And dangerous. So, after ten years of wildland firefighting, Boyd became a dad and took himself off the literal line of fire "...and did some forestry work and that seemed like a natural progression.”

Anders next progression was a pretty natural one, too.

“I decided to mix my love of wildfire and fitness and start this company.”

The company is Fireline Fitness - a line of supplements designed to support athletes and firefighters, even on their most grueling days.

One is a neuro-complex -

“Going back to the wild and thing, is important because you're getting thousands of decisions made every second and every one matters.”

There is also magnesium, a pre-workout and BCAA.

Boyd says he learned firsthand that physical fitness is a vital part of staying  safe when fighting fires. This happened during northern California’s devastating Panther Fire in 2008.

"On day ten I succumbed to heat stroke and I had to get medevac’d off the fire line.”

That eye-opening experience helped inform Boyd’s research when developing his line of supplements and choosing the manufacturer. "Everything is U.S. sourced, it's all manufactured and packaged right there, so it's all good stuff."

The other truly good stuff, says Boyd, is parenting his son. "Now he's getting a little more independent so you can sit back and watch him learn stuff and grow, it's a lot of fun!"

Anders and his company also support Wildland Firefighter Foundation, which helps families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and injured firefighters and their families.
