Auburn Rockslide - 2-28-26

A rockslide that reportedly started this morning is causing some traffic issues near Auburn today.

According to a report from California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Auburn, CA, Old Auburn Foresthill Road had to be closed around 9:00am this morning due to an active rock slide.

Old Auburn Foresthill Road is currently closed between Foresthill Road and State Route 49, at the Confluence.

CHP says that crews are on scene and are actively working to stabilize the area of the slide, as well as clear the road of any hazards. At the moment, there is no estimated time for the road to reopen.

If traveling in that area, officials recommend that drivers take an alternate route - one suggestion would be to take State Route 49 down to the Confluence from Auburn, via Lincoln Way and Borland Avenue.
