Fewer Black Friday Shoppers This Year

Black Friday may be losing its steam. According to the National Retail Federation, 5.1 million fewer shoppers were in the stores on Black Friday this year.

Fewer shoppers were out on Thanksgiving Day as well when many major retailers opened their doors. The federation found that turkey day shopping was down 1.8 million people, compared to last year.

Two issues may be responsible for the drop. More people are shopping online and the big discounts aren't as concentrated on the Thanksgiving weekend as they used to be.
