Fire Destroys Home in Zephyr Cove

A fire at a duplex in Zephyr Cove, Nevada Saturday night has displaced four adults and two children.

Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District received a call around 8:00 p.m. after neighbors noticed flames in the unit next to them. Firefighters arrived on scene to a heavily involved structure fire in the Round Hill area.

More resources were requested to help fight the fire. East Fork Fire Protection District, North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, and the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department all responded to the scene. No one was home in the unit where the flames were first discovered. However, three family pets did succumb to the smoke.

Crews were able to knock down the fire in 20 minutes. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office assisted with notifying and evacuating neighboring structures.

NV Energy, Round Hill General Improvement District and Southwest Gas also assisted firefighters on scene. The residents displaced by the fire have been assisted by the Red Cross.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the fire to break out. The cause is currently unknown.
