Flash Flood Warnings for Carson City, Douglas, Storey and Washoe Counties

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Alpine, El Dorado and northern Mono Counties in California and southeastern Lyon and Douglas Counties in Nevada until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Locations currently under a threat of flash flooding include the Gardnerville area, stretches of Highway 395 through Holbrook Junction, Highway 338 in the Sweetwater Summit area and Highway 88 east of Carson pass through the junction of Highway 89.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Floodwaters are usually deeper than they appear. A few inches of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road.
