The Carson Valley Community Food Closet in Gardnerville expanding and moving to a new location.
They have already purchased a new lot on Waterloo Lane for their expansion which will grow their capacity from about 2,000 square feet to about 10,000 square feet
The project will cost more than $1 million, but it will allow them to serve many more people in the community.
"It's going to consolidate food services, we'll be able to provide more but in a timely manner, we'll able to take in quite a bit more food, which is always a need, so being able to have everything one site with just make the service that much greater and that much more efficient,” says Sarah Sanchez, Director, Carson Valley Community Food Closet:
They also hope to provide on-site nutrition education in the new building.
