Iran Executes Man Convicted of Spying on US-Slain General

State TV says Iran has executed a man convicted of providing information to the United States and Israel about a prominent Revolutionary Guard general later killed by a U.S. drone strike.

The country’s judiciary had said earlier that Mahmoud Mousavi Majd was linked to the CIA and Israeli intelligence and had shared security information on the Guard and the expeditionary unit Qassem Soleimani commanded.

Soleimani was killed in an American drone strike in Baghdad in January.

The strike also killed the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias in Iraq known as the Popular Mobilization Forces and five other people.
