A jury convicted a man, 56-year-old Edward Pundyk, accused of shooting and killing his mother after an eight day jury trial that concluded Wednesday. Police say that Pundyk shot and killed his mother, Delphina Medeiros, on October 7, 2015 in Stead.
Pundyk pled not guilty by reason of insanity, but was ultimately found guilty by the jury.
The Washoe County District Attorney said in a statement that this case was particularly lengthy and involved due to the complexity of the insanity defense.
Pundyk will be sentenced on September 25 and faces up to life in prison without parole.
