Thanksgiving is only a day away, shoppers are zooming through the stores, trying to find those last minute items to complete their feast.

We checked out a local COSTCO that was completely packed with people doing their last minute shopping. Everywhere you turned people were trying to find that one final item they needed, but last minute shopping is nothing to be ashamed of, it just might be a tradition everyone has in common.

Travis Crowder, a last minute Thanksgiving Shopper tells us why he's shopping so late "More than anything it was the fact the wife kind of sent me on a mission with a laundry list of to-do's, and she couldn't get out of work so she's like "honey you're pinch-hitting for me" and I'm like I got it I can do that."

Jasmine Olvera, another Last Minute Thanksgiving Shopper adds "Because I procrastinate (she laughs) and I don't like my pies to sit in the fridge for too long before I eat them."

Surprisingly to the shoppers, the store was fully stocked with anything the shoppers could want to add to their holiday feast, that is if they can get through the crowds.

Olvera tells us "I thought there was going to be a lot of issues finding what I needed, but so far I've been lucky."

Some shoppers had most of their thanksgiving shopping for their main courses squared away, but there's always one item on the list everyone forgets.

Roger Slater, yet another Last Minute Thanksgiving Shopper tells us why he was last minute shopping "I did most of the shopping yesterday, picked up the ham, and got the turkey and was looking and I thought, maybe one more pie."

Crowder adds "Getting that accurate number, I just kept adding kids and grand kids to the mix and before you knew it I was like... oh I have a lot of people I have to buy for."

But if you are a last minute shopper then you'll find packed stores are nothing new.

Crowder says "There are a lot of people, and that's been the case with every store that we've been to."

Some of the shoppers told us they're hoping their shopping trip will only take 10 to 15 minutes, but the checkout lines alone will most likely take a toll on that plan.

Crowder tells us "I've been in here probably over an hour already, so when it's all said and done I'll probably be in here about an hour and a half."

You might think that a crowd full of goal oriented people might make for a tough shopping trip, but the shoppers say everyone so far has made the experience quite pleasant.

Olvera explains "Everyone's been in a good mood this year, which I'm thankful for because pandemic season hasn't been fun, so it's nice people are showing each other kindness."

Crowder adds "Seems like everybody's in a good spirit, everyone's been very helpful and very polite so it's encouraging."

But shopping at the last minute doesn't just stop at Thanksgiving, it runs throughout the entire holiday season.

Crowder says "People that know me know I'm kind of a last minute guy at times so It doesn't tend to stress me out, I'm sure I'll be doing the exact same thing right about December 23rd or 24th."
