A Northern Nevada mother is carrying on the legacy of her daughter by donating to underserved young adults who might not be able to afford all of the luxuries they need to go to prom.Â
"We're basically just handing out free prom attire for the boys and girls in Washoe County and all the outlying communities," says Barbie Marcoe, President of Lexie's Gift.Â
The pop-up Lexie's Gift lasts three days only this year, so if you need anything you can stop by The Grove in Reno for all of your prom needs as soon as possible.
"The kids are welcome to come in and shop- and they get a personal shopper if that's what they want or they can come in with a group of friends if that's what they need- and this is just to help those who wouldn't be able to go to prom otherwise be able to attend," says Marcoe.Â
Macroe says Lexie's Gift started in memory of her daughter because she always wanted people to feel pretty and good about themselves.
"Lexie's Gift provides daily clothing throughout the year for these kids and this time of year we do a prom closet so they can everything they need to go to prom," says Macroe.
