Local Boy and Girl Scouts came together Saturday morning to place flags on graves of those who have sacrificed their lives for our country at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery.
Scout leaders say the day is important to teach young people why we honor those who have fallen while serving our country.
Russ Fromherz the Charter Partner Representative of BSA7322 says, "It's quite an honor to not only do a service project, but to teach our young people about what serving our country means to all of us in this country."
He says today is about community and that this isn't the only site where flags are being placed around town.
"Other scout troops are doing other cemeteries in the area, especially the National Cemetery out in Fernley."
He says that each veteran deserves to be remembered, and that the oldest veteran they are honoring Saturday served in the Spanish-American War.Â
