McQueen High School Holds Annual Craft Fair This Weekend

Want to get a jump start on your holiday shopping? The McQueen Boosters Guild is hosting its 29th annual McQueen Craft Fair this weekend.

There will be 179 different booths spread out throughout the school from local and neighboring crafters. “They come from all over. We have them from Idaho, from Utah, lots of vendors from California come in ‘cause it's got a really good reputation,” said Paula Cason, liaison of the craft fair.

A lot of work goes into making the crafts and supplies. In some cases it takes several hours just to make one item. Goods at the fair range from knitted hats and scarves to clothing, pottery, holiday décor, paintings and photography. We spoke with one photographer who specialized in taking pictures of wild horses who said it takes good light and a lot of time waiting to get the perfect shot. “It takes a lot of time to get comfortable with the herds. I may be out there with them for a month,” said Matthew Bailey.

The craft fair is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost $5 at the door. You can also bring in 4 items to donate to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada or Blue Star moms and get $2 off the admission price.

Entrance fees at the door go to supporting McQueen High School activities.
