Nevada Day celebrates when Nevada became the 36th State. And the Nevada Day Carnival fits as a great kick off to that celebration. This is the 34th year for the carnival. This year there are new food vendors and more than 15 carnival rides. As for adults, there's also a beer booth. Money raised from the beer booth and a portion of the carnival rides will benefit an organization called RSVP that offers rides, a respite program, and other help for seniors. There will be music playing on an event stage every night.
“Friday night is DJ Carl. He’s going to be playing some great music. Then Saturday we have randy and the g men and they are going to rock the place out with some classic rock and roll. There will also be a DJ on Sunday night as well,” said carnival director Steven Nichols.
The event runs from noon until 9 pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunday it runs from noon until 8 pm.
Of course, there is also the Nevada Day Parade on Saturday. That goes right through downtown Carson City. So Carson Street will be closed from Winnie Lane to Fairview Drive from Saturday morning to mid-afternoon.Side streets will also be shut down. 2 news will be taking part in that parade.
