The Big Reno Coat Drive is two days away from wrapping up coat collections.
The goal this year is to collect 3,000 coats and jackets and so far, they've gotten 1,800 for kids in need in our community.
Organizers say the need is very high this year and want to be able to help more kids, some families say it would be hard to go without the help.
“You know it breaks my heart when my kids are in there freezing to death and they can't even move because they're cold and you know, they're out there wearing a just a regular t shirt, because I can provide coats, it's something as simple as coats, I can't get them,” says coat recipient, Crystie Cawelti.
Crystie has been living with her 4 kids and pets in motel rooms for the past couple of months.
She received five jackets through the Big Reno Coat Drive, one for herself and one for each of her kids.
Organizers say the need has been high this year and more donations would allow them to help more people like Crystie.
“Its great to see that there's people that don't even know me that are willing to help,” she says.
Crystie is trying to get back to her hometown in Arkansas, but doesn’t have the gas money to get there.
She has set up a Go Fund Me page in order to raise money for gas and If you want to help you can donate with the link
