A wildfire north of the Bay Area that also created hazy skies across parts of Northern Nevada last week is now 4,120+ acres.
The Lucas Fire is now 30% contained after starting late Thursday morning in Potter Valley.
The fire, which remains under investigation, is located in Lake and Mendocino counties.
Evacuations remain ongoing.
An emergency closure is in effect for a portion of the Upper Lake Ranger District on Mendocino National Forest.
More than 2,600 personnel are working the fire.
Along with the Steele Fire in Napa County, smoke from both of these fires prompted moderate air qualities last week. Currently, Northern Nevada is in the good range, but if you are sensitive to the air, you are urged to stay indoors, or shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors. You can sign up for air quality alerts from Northern Nevada Public Health here.
The smaller, 51-acre Steele Fire started last Wednesday and also remains under investigation.
