A search involving deputies, K9 teams, drones and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team ended Sunday afternoon after a domestic violence suspect was found hiding inside a large haystack in a barn.
According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office in an online post, deputies responded late Saturday evening, July 11, after a call from a woman screaming for help.
Deputies determined she had been assaulted in a domestic violence incident when they arrived. The suspect fled before law enforcement arrived, leading to a search that continued through the night.
As the investigation continued, deputies determined the suspect was likely hiding near his home, either on his property or in outbuildings on a neighboring property.
The post advised that on Sunday morning, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team was called in to assist. After clearing the suspect’s home, the team shifted its focus to a nearby property.
Using a drone during the search, deputies located the suspect hiding inside a large haystack in a barn shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday. Once he realized he had been discovered, 29-year-old Adam Armbruster climbed down from the haystack and surrendered without incident.
Armbruster was arrested on charges of felony domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Placer County Jail but has since been released after posting bail.
The post video advises that the suspect’s face has been blurred in accordance with California law, which prohibits law enforcement agencies from publicly releasing booking or arrest photographs except under limited circumstances established by state law.
