According to a recent comment to a Facebook user, Heavenly Mountain resort has had their lift inspected and the issue with the lift was identified and resolved.
They also mention that the lift was cleared for operations by the U.S. Forest Service.
Update (12/23/24, 3:05 p.m.):
According to a post on the @HVconditions account on X that tracks lift and slope activity, the Comet lift has not re-opened for use since the incident.
ORIGINAL STORY (12/23/24, 12:55 p.m.):
Heavenly officials say an incident happened on its Comet Express chairlift on Monday.
The Tahoe Douglas Fire Prevention District says they were called to the incident around 10:10 a.m. and responded with two engines and three rescue ambulances.
They transported five total people to Renown Hospital in Reno.
Heavenly Mountain Resort sent us this statement:Â
“Heavenly Mountain Resort can confirm an incident occurred on its Comet Express chairlift today, Monday, December 23, 2024. The safety of our guests is our top priority and the resort is investigating the incident."
