Keep Tahoe Blue is hosting a free seminar on how to protect Lake Tahoe from golden mussels and other aquatic invasive species for 'California Invasive Species Action Week.'
It's happening Tuesday June 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 1 Valhalla Road in South Lake Tahoe.
Keep Lake Tahoe Blue says aquatic invasive species like mollusks, plants, and others can outcompete native species, throw off the Lake’s ecosystem, and turn Tahoe’s famously blue waters a green.Â
During the two-hour training, participants will learn how to identify invasive species and report sightings online.
They'll also share the fundamentals of Lake-friendly paddling and why it’s crucial to Clean, Drain, and Dry gear before hitting the water.
The event led by Keep Tahoe Blue is in collaboration with Tahoe Keepers, the Lahontan Water Quality Control Board, and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.Â
Register at Keep Tahoe Blue.
