A man was arrested in Lyon County on Tuesday on charges including a felony count of failing to register as a sexual offender.

On Tuesday, around 3:30 p.m., deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Central Command Patrol Squad and members of the LCSO Sex Offender Task Force responded to Highway 50 East in Silver Springs for a report of trespassing.

Investigation determined that 34-year-old John Kyle Stevens was a registered sexual offender out of California who had been in Nevada for more than 48 hours without registering with any law enforcement agency, according to a release from the LCSO.

Stevens was taken into custody and booked into the Lyon County Jail on one felony count of failing to register as a sexual offender and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
