Investigations are underway for suspicious fires in the Mammoth Lakes area in California.

The Mammoth Lakes Police Department says over the last few weeks, there have been multiple fires both in the Inyo National Forest and within the town of Mammoth Lakes.

They say that although recent rains have helped to increase moisture in the forest, the area still remains mainly dry.

The Inyo National Forest is currently in stage one fire restrictions, which prohibit wood and charcoal fires outside of U.S. Forest Service-provided rings and stoves in developed recreation sites.
