Just one of Palisades Tahoe's 296 trails and two of its 39 lifts are currently open. Around this time last year, the resort was almost completely open.

As we've been following, Palisades Tahoe was originally scheduled to fully open on November 26, the day before Thanksgiving. The resort said the weather hasn't been in their favor as of late.

"Whenever you have that humidity mixed with non-cold temperatures, then we cannot make snow and produce snow," said Patrick Lacey, PR Manager for Palisades Tahoe.

The resort can't make snow, and Mother Nature hasn't made much either. So, Palisades is left with the "Start Me Up" beginner area as its only open trail.

One snowboarder says he's shredded at local resorts for 15 years, and this start at Palisades has left a lot to be desired.

"One ski run available only versus everything else," said Gerardo Hinojosa, comparing this year's start to previous years. "KT-22 is not open. The tram's open but only for sightseeing. So, it's pretty disappointing."

While the resort is waiting for snow, it said its employees won't have to wait for their paychecks.

"Right now, we are currently keeping our employees active, just with reduced hours," said Lacey.

For those who want variety in Olympic Valley, hope is on the horizon.

Lacey says the Expedition Ski Lift could be open as soon as this weekend, but that's not all.

"We're trying to make snow over at Alpine, with our TLC Lift, the Treeline Cirque Lift," he said.

But the resort's attention is focused on next week's big possibility.

"We could see a pretty large system moving into the Tahoe area," Lacey said, "and hopefully we get some more lifts open during that time."

Even though the snow is lackluster so far, Hinojosa says your enjoyment doesn't have to be.

"Just have fun. Make the best out of something, you know? Can't complain when you're in the snow," Hinojosa said.
