ORIGINAL STORY:

Liberty Utilities is notifying Markleeville, Woodfords, and Desolation Hotel (Hope Valley) customers that it may implement a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) on Monday, November 11, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. to reduce wildfire risk during anticipated extreme weather conditions. If a PSPS is implemented, it could last more than 24 hours before power is safely restored.

The state of California grants authority to Liberty to implement a PSPS in high-risk areas when extreme weather conditions present a clear danger to public safety.

Customers are encouraged to visit Community Resource Center from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. at the Woodfords Community Center, 96 Washoe Blvd if they are unable to secure necessary alternative power.

Meanwhile, NV Energy has issued Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) WATCH in Carson, Genoa and Virginia City Highlands in northern Nevada and Mt. Charleston in Southern Nevada.

Customers in all affected areas have been notified. A PSOM WATCH means a de-energization is possible to prevent the possibility of sparking a wildfire.
