Sky Tavern will kick off its summer bike park season with its annual MAYDAY Festival, a family-friendly event celebrating mountain biking and community.
The festival will take place on May 31 and is open to the Reno-Tahoe community at the donation-supported mountain recreation area.
The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will include bike demos from Transition Bikes (id's are required), bike shuttles, food trucks, a vendor village, youth pump track workshops, group rides, a prize raffle, and a 650-foot dual zip line in partnership with the nonprofit organization Project Discovery.
Organizers say admission to the event is $10, and children under 12 may attend for free.
Some activities and bike shuttles will require an additional fee.
Proceeds from the festival will go toward the next phase of bike park development, including the construction of a new beginner and intermediate progression flow trail scheduled for this summer.
Sky Tavern Bike Park is designed as an inclusive space with trails and skills zones for riders of all ability levels, including those with physical limitations.
The summer calendar at Sky Tavern also includes community events such as the Riders in the Sky mountain bike skills clinics.
Organizers say these clinics are led by professional coaches and begin in June, offering sessions for youth, women-inclusive, and open groups from beginner to advanced levels.
The first Women’s Camp Weekend will be held June 21–22 and will feature skills workshops and activities aimed at building camaraderie.
