Reno Fire crews put out a brush fire in west Reno that was sending large plumes of smoke into the air.
It started just before 4 p.m. Sunday on West 4th street, west of McCarran Boulevard, right behind the Riverview Church.
The fire burned about 3 acres before forward progress was stopped.
Reno Fire crews were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings.
The fire was sparked after a bird landed on an electrical wire; the bird did not survive.
