Two people have died, and one was hurt following the crash of a plane shortly after takeoff from Bishop Airport in Inyo County.

The Inyo County Sheriff's Office first got the report of the missing plane just before 9:30 p.m. on Monday, according to a release from the ICSO on Facebook.

A search and rescue team was activated just after 6 a.m. on Tuesday, and the crashed plane was located near Black Canyon Road.

Rescue teams arrived at the crash just before 9:30 a.m. and found two people who had died in the crash and a third who survived, but with several injuries.

That person was airlifted back to Bishop Airport, where emergency medical personnel were standing by to provide care.

The names of those involved in the crash have not been released.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
